Today, on October 28 in Moscow signed an agreement on cooperation between Tatarstan Investment Development Agency and the Israeli-Russian Business Council – a powerful non-political organization whose main aim is to establish direct business contacts and favorable conditions of cooperation between the organizations and companies of the State of Israel and the Russian Federation.
Signatures under the act put TIDA Chief Executive Taliya Minullina and Chairman of the Israeli-Russian Business Council Teimuraz Hihinashvili (Ben Yehuda).
The ceremony was held during the 12th meeting of the Russian-Israeli (intergovernmental) Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which was held in the framework of the IV Moscow international forum “Open innovation”. Commission was held by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Arkady Dvorkovich and Minister of absorption (integration of new citizens in the Jewish community) and for Jerusalem and diaspora affairs of Israel Zeev Elkin.
It should be noted that the agreement with TIDA was the only contract with the state bodies of the region of the Russian Federation within the meeting of the intergovernmental commission: other agreements were signed with the federal authorities or federal or international agencies.
Thus, signed a program of joint action for the period 2016-2018 years on the implementation of the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the State of Israel on cooperation in the field of tourism, the agreement between the Russian-Israeli Business Council and Israeli-Russian Business Council, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Final Protocol of the twelfth session of the Russian-Israeli (intergovernmental) committee on trade and economic cooperation.
Minister of absorption (integration of new citizens in the Jewish community) and for Jerusalem and diaspora affairs of Israel Zeev Elkin emphasized the specific role of Tatarstan in the Russian-Israeli relations: it is necessary to work not only in Moscow but also in the regions, and here is an active work of Tatarstan.
Perspective sector and the free trade zone
During the meeting it was emphasized that among the perspective areas of cooperation may be called agriculture, pharmacology, medical equipment, scientific research, start-ups in the IT-sector and many other areas.
The Minister Elkin said: “Personal meetings – is the path to success. Our economies do not compete, but complement each other”.
Israel plans to begin the creation of a free trade zone with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU): corresponding negotiations will start in early 2016. The decision to begin negotiations was made at EEU summit on October 16 in the Burabai (Kazakhstan). There is a good dynamics on this issue, said Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich at a meeting of the commission.
Currently, trade between the two countries amounts to more than 3 billion dollars, and in case of signing an agreement on free trade zone will be opened new areas for cooperation, where Tatarstan will take its place.
